Before & After School Program

At Seedlings to Sunflowers, our Before & After School Program is designed to provide children with a safe, healthy, and engaging environment where they can learn, grow, play, and connect with others after the school day ends.
We create opportunities for children to explore their interests, build friendships, strengthen academic skills, and enjoy meaningful experiences in a nurturing setting led by caring educators. Our space is equipped with a wide variety of engaging games, hands-on activities, and enrichment materials that encourage creativity, collaboration, movement, and fun.
WHAT OUR PROGRAM OFFERS
Our program includes opportunities for participation in:
- Academic skill-building and homework help
- Sports and recreation
- Creative exploration through:
- Art
- Music
- Theater and dance
- Building activities
- STEM projects
- Games
- Outdoor adventures
- Unstructured free play
- Volunteer work and community service opportunities (service-learning)
In addition to daily activities, children benefit from:
- Ongoing relationships with caring adults
- An environment that promotes social-emotional growth and positive character development
- Safe, well-designed indoor and outdoor learning spaces
VACATION CAMPS, HOLIDAYS, & SCHOOL BREAK COVERAGE
Seedlings to Sunflowers offers a limited number of childcare openings for children in Grades K–5 during:
- February Vacation
- April Vacation
Care is also provided on select school closure days, including:
- Presidents Day
- Early release days (details provided throughout the school year)
TRANSPORTATION & STAFFING
- Student-to-teacher ratio is 1:13
- Bus transportation is available from Village, Great Falls, and Narragansett Schools in Gorham
AFTER SCHOOL SCHEDULE
- 3:30 PM – 3:50 PM | Busy Arrival, Welcome, Check-in | Students arrive, settle in, and transition into after school program.
- 3:45 – 4:00 PM | Snack | Children enjoy a healthy snack and take time to recharge after their school day.
- 4:00 – 4:20 PM | Play & Enrichment Activities | Weather permitting, children spend time outdoors for active play and exploration. Indoor options may include:
- Center-based rotations
- Teacher-led activities including seasonal themes
- Creative projects
- STEM exploration
- Building and games
- 4:20 – 4:45 PM | Outdoor Adventure or Free Play | Activities may include:
- Playground time
- Field games
- Indoor free-choice play
- 4:45 – 5:00 PM | Homework, Reading, & Clean-up | Students have time for:
- Homework support
- Quiet reading
- Organization and clean-up before pick-up
